‹ Devices Overview

Tomtom and Rimrocked

Overview

One of the best things about the Tomtom devices is its ability to run other software. We have tested Tripmaster, a very full featured application that is available for free on the Tomtom that adds a real-time display of data, datalogging, alarms and extensive customization. Our primary purpose here is to get it onto your Tomtom device, enable logging then getting GPX or KML data out for importing into rimrocked. This has been tested on the Tomtom One but we make no guarantee for the software and can't claim responsibility for anything you do with it. That being said, we've tried it out extensively and haven't had any issues with it.

How to Use

  1. To activate the tracking logs, just click on the zone where the GPS coordinates are displayed and altitude (upper left corner, symbol 0_0). When the recording is active, this is announced by the appearance of the tracking logs file name and by a Save button. in the compass zone. When Tripmaster did not acquire a GPS signal yet, the button with the symbol 0_0 does not appear, which means that the activation of tracks logging is not possible. If you're using a customized background, the symbol 0_0 is no more used and the Deactivate/Activate button is always visible, although the function may not be active, if no GPS signal is present.

  2. To stop tracks logging, just click once again on the GPS coordinates zone.

Setting up parameters

  1. You gain access to the various parameters setup when clicking on the lower right corner of the screen, on the ][ symbol. In these screens, you can setup the various parameters of Tripmaster. The changes are taken into account after clicking on one of the Save or Save & Exit buttons.
  2. Format parameter defines the format of tracking logs files - select KML format
    • Itn : reusable format directly as a route in Tomtom
    • Csv : importable format in Excel or Autoroute Express

    • Gpx : interchange format between various GPS or for an immediate importation in Google Earth
